Why “Nora”?

Nora is named after an ancient coastal town in Sardinia, which is a place of stories, encounters, and enduring voices. Its archaeological site includes an open-air museum and the remains of a Roman theatre, which still hosts concerts and performances in the summer. Historically, Nora was a vibrant port city, where people met, exchanged knowledge, and shared stories and ideas. This spirit of connection mirrors the mission of the Nora Center to connect science with society and people with ideas, across borders and disciplines.

If NORA were an acronym, it could stand for: Narratives, Outreach, Research, and Access.
